Turnaround 9
Three Artists: Paper, Textile and Canvas April 7th - 13th |
Julian Beere Julian Beere's artistic practice encompasses a range of activities and disciplines including curation, art history and artist book making. For Turnaround, he has assembled a library of sketchbooks, notebooks and work books created over a period of 25 years. The library is intended as an interactive installation. Through these books, made available for handling and 'reading', visitors can explore some of the artist's thought processes, embodied by a broad range of techniques and media involved in a variety of projects during this time. |
Lissa Chapman Lissa Chapman is the co-founder of site-specific theatre company Clio’s Company. When she is not staging plays in sometimes unexpected places (venues to date have included a glass house, several stretches of canal and more churches and castles than she can easily remember), Lissa works with textiles. Particular interests are embroidery and historical theatre costume. This waistcoat was made for “Sloane’s Waistcoat”, a play written for and about Chelsea Physic Garden – its themes included garden history, the search for a cure for malaria and the hugely controversial new dress fabric, cotton (its advent caused riots, and it was illegal to wear for many years) as well as Sir Hans Sloane himself. This item is not for sale – commissions will be considered as long as you’re not in a hurry! Sloane’s Waistcoat |
